Ford and Mazda Issue Do Not Drive Warnings for 457,000 Vehicles

Dealerships Given Until September 26 to Complete Repairs

Failure to Comply Could Result in Vehicle Seizures

Ford and Mazda have issued do-not-drive warnings covering more than 457,000 vehicles that contain potentially deadly air bag inflators. The warning covers all unrepaired recalled Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles as well as all Mazda vehicles that are equipped with specific Takata inflators.

The Do Not Drive advisory covers cars ranging from 2004 to 2015, including some previously recalled Ford Ranger, GT Mustang, and Mazda CX-9 models. The inflators can explode with too much force, sending metal fragments into the vehicle's cabin and potentially injuring or killing occupants.

Ford and Mazda have given dealerships until September 26 to complete the repairs. If a dealership fails to comply, the vehicles may be seized by the government. Owners of affected vehicles are urged to contact their local dealership immediately to schedule an appointment for the free repair.
